Discover Why Acadia Is the "Crown Jewel" of the East Coast for RV Adventures

If you love the freedom of the open road but want to keep all the comforts of home, traveling by RV is the perfect solution. According to a new report from a leading RV rental platform, many road trippers are eager to discover fresh destinations at their own pace in 2025—no rigid itineraries or last-minute rescheduling fees required. Topping the list of must-see spots for the coming year is Acadia National Park.

Nicknamed the "Crown Jewel of the North Atlantic Coast," Acadia sits on more than 50,000 acres of protected land. Moose, seals, and peregrine falcons are just some of the wildlife you might spot there. For the country's earliest sunrise views, head to the peak of Cadillac Mountain. Should you crave some downtime in town, Bar Harbor offers a buzzing scene of breweries and restaurants.

Though the park is open year-round, certain areas shut down during winter, making summer the optimal (and busiest) season. Visitors can then take full advantage of 64 miles of coastline, 150-plus hiking trails, and 27 miles of historic roads. RV-friendly campgrounds—Schoodic Woods, Blackwoods, and Seawall—come equipped with flush toilets, running water, and dump stations, but they're only operational from May through October. Keep in mind that certain parts of Acadia limit large vehicles.

Be sure to secure your campsite before your trip, as Acadia doesn't allow walk-ins. About 90 percent of available sites open for booking six months ahead, released online on the first day of each month at 10 a.m. EST. The remaining 10 percent roll out 14 days before arrival. Entry costs $35 per vehicle.

Other destinations predicted to be just as popular in 2025 include Niagara Falls in New York, Oshkosh in Wisconsin, Gorge Amphitheatre Campground in Washington, and Redwood National and State Parks near California's Crescent City.
